Last night, my 6th grade boys team from St. Anthony’s in Rocky Point held practice in preparation for our upcoming playoff game. The team has only nine players, so going full court has been difficult. Three players from our neighboring parish, St. Mark’s in Shoreham, came down last night to our practice to help us out. They were awesome! Even though we are different CYO programs and compete against each other, we are all friends and are willing to help each other out in any way that we can, including borrowing gym space or extra players for practice. The boys from the two programs all know each other from competing with and against each other in both Little League and travel baseball as well, and they have even combined teams to enter summer/fall basketball leagues in the past. This is what the spirit of CYO is all about!

This past Sunday 1/12 12:45PM at Old Field MS 6th grade boys. Visiting coach, I think from Sayville. He should be video taped! He was an amazing coach. His players played hard and were well coached. He never yelled, screamed at his players. Was completely positive the ENTIRE game, especially in a loss. Never said a peep to the officials. He was great and should be cloned!!!!! Can't say enough great things about this guy. Was a great game to officiate. Loved it!!!

Good afternoon
I am sure you get plenty of complaints about referees but I thought I should send a compliment. The referees for game 104661 were excellent. They controlled the game very well and worked really well as a team. It really made for a great game.
Thanks
PS My team lost the game, so I was not impoperly infludenced....lol

In the 6:15 boys 6th grade game last night at Babylon Elementary, 2 players from St. Joseph's fouled out, leaving them with only 4 players. At this point, St. Joseph's was leading by 6 points and there were about 3 minutes left in the game.
Unprompted, the St. Kilian's coach called time out, and removed one of his own players, so that the remainder of the game was played 4 vs. 4, rather than 5 vs. 4. This greatly reduced his chances of winning the game, but made for a better game for the remaining players.
I just wanted to note the excellent sportsmanship shown by the Kilian's coach.
